You'll enjoy your
float trip much more if you can remember the following safety
rules:
Always stay near the
center of the canoe while entering or leaving. It is not recommended to
change positions while floating along.
Keep gear stowed low and
in the center of the canoe. Heavy items should be in the middle of the
canoe or slightly toward the front.
Keys should be tied to
the person or left at the rental office. Billfolds, cameras and other
valuables should be put in a strong waterproof bag and tied to the
canoe. A person should make sure the bag is tied at all times while not
in use.
The water in the more
difficult places is generally shallow; so, if you have any doubt about
getting through, step out and walk the canoe down.
